Buffalo Grove real estate is following the national trend of improvement. This week’s headlines included “Report: Sellers Boosted Prices in April”, Home Builder Confidence Hits Five-Year High”, “Foreclosures Hit 5-Year Low: Is There Light At the End of the Tunnel for Housing?”, and “Fixed Mortgage Rates Hit Record Lows Again” to name a few. It certainly looks like optimism is starting to pervade and data for Buffalo Grove real estate tends to back up this sentiment.

The real estate tracking website Trulia.com shows an increase of sales volume for Buffalo Grove homes. For the 3 week period of April 18 through May 9 Buffalo Grove real estate sales were up 23.5% compared with a year ago, a nice increase to see. In addition the average price per square foot was down only 1.5% compared with a year ago, suggesting a leveling off of home values.

Biking is being highlighted in Buffalo Grove this month. May is National Bike Month and Buffalo Grove is taking notice, encouraging everyone to bike whenever possible all month long. Wednesday was the first official bike event, when Buffalo Grove promoted Bike To School Day. Of course, if you don’t go to school, or missed Wednesday’s bike promotion, there are other bike promotions to take part in this month.

Battle of Bands This Weekend in Buffalo Grove Illinois

Everyone’s favorite annual event hits the stage in Buffalo Grove Illinois this weekend, the Battle of the Bands! Hosted by the Buffalo Grove Park District the best local talent will be playing their tunes on stage at Ivy Hall School. Bands that are competing are young, with contestants being in the age range of 12 to 21. This is a true community event for those living in and near Buffalo Grove.

Winners of the Buffalo Grove Battle of the Bands will receive a recording session from 2BU Studios, located in nearby Lincolnshire, and the opportunity to compete in another competition being held in July. The winning band of the July competition will then have a chance to attend a competition at the Illinois State Fair in August. Bands will need to bring their own instruments to the Battle of the Bands, but no sound system as it will be provided.

Whether you want to compete or simply listen, the Battle of the Bands will be a wonderful event to attend this weekend in Buffalo Grove. The Battle will take place on Saturday, May 5th, from 4 to 10 pm, certain to be fun for all ages and a great community event.

Buffalo Grove real estate sales continue to improve. The real estate tracking website Trulia.com demonstrates an increase of 37% in Buffalo Grove real estate sales for the 3 week period of March 28 through April 18 compared with the same period of 2011. This percentage translates into 100 Buffalo Grove homes being sold during this 3 week time period. The increase in home sales is following along a trend that Buffalo Grove home sales have been following all year, improvement.

Headlines around the nation are blaring that today represents a buyer’s market. There is no doubt that this is true right here in Buffalo Grove, where average prices continue to be lower and affordability levels continue to favor buyers. Celebrate Earth Day in Buffalo Grove Illinois

Celebrate Earth Day in Buffalo Grove Illinois this Friday, April 20th. Earth Day is all about getting to know the inhabitants of earth, how to treat the earth, and to celebrate the unique life we all live on this planet. Here in Buffalo Grove the Park District is getting involved to help educate and enjoy this special day.

The Buffalo Grove Park District has planned a special event with one of our area’s favorites, “The Bug Lady”. Theresa Greinig, aka “The Bug Lady”, is going to give children and adults in Buffalo Grove a glimpse of life on earth over a span of 4.5 billion years, with a focus on insects and their ability to survive. The program will be fun and educational at the same time, a great way to celebrate Earth Day in Buffalo Grove! The program will take place at the Alcott Center from 7 to 8 pm and is free.
